Bulk changing user roles
1.) Go to Settings > Security > Users.
2.) Select two or more users and click Manage Roles.
3.) Select the role(s) you wish to assign to these users and click OK.
Troubleshooting bulk change errors
In my example, I added the CSR Manager role to two users at once. As you can see in the video, on the top of the screen I got an error: “An error has occurred. The selected action was not completed for one or more records.”
To trouble shoot this error, open the user records you tried to change to see whether any of those users were already assigned the role you tried to add. As you can see, one of my users was already assigned the CSR Manager role. The error occurred because it was trying to assign the role again in a bulk update. So you have to make sure that when you are bulk changing user roles in Microsoft Dynamics 365, the particular security profile that you’re going to assign is not assigned to any other users.
To do so:
1.) Go to Marketing > Reports > User Summary > Run Report.
The User Summary Report will show all the users in the system and which profiles they are already assigned. This way, if you have, let’s say, 25-50 users, you can look at this chart to decide quickly which users you will include in your bulk change before you begin bulk changing user roles.
